I was 13 when I tripped and fell; subsequently hurting my lower back. I spent the next 3 decades dealing with the constant pain; the type of pain you need to take 1600mg of over-the-counter ibuprofen, or more, just to normally function. I was an athlete, in some sort of sport each season of the year. During each Christmas break, my back would inevitably spasm to the point where I was unable to walk, despite the over-the-counter mediations. I tried chiropractic; I tried acupuncture, but I was unaware of massage. I, like many people, had the misimpression that it was not a way to really help heal me or provide me any relief from the pain. I talked with my acupuncturist and she asked me if I'd ever tried massage. I decided to make an appointment with the massage therapist she recommended.
We spent the first 3 months just working on my lower legs. I was on medication for restless leg syndrome/periodic limb movement disorder. I was in my forties and having more issues, not just my back. As the treatments continued, I started to notice my legs weren't hurting as much and over time we expanded to the rest of body. I was feeling so much better! I was hooked. I came to a point where I wanted to help others feel better also! Massage changed my life and helped me find my purpose. The massage therapist I was seeing suggested I research the massage school she graduated from, Colorado School of Healing Arts. I liked their program, started classes in April 2008 and graduated March 2009. I decided in order to best serve my clients I would pursue advanced training in the areas of Lymph Drainage, Cranial Sacral and Reflexology. I received an associates degree in March 2010, however I decided to take the remainder of offered training; Oncology, Sports, Advanced Neuromuscular Techniques, and Trauma Touch Therapy. My most recent training is Reiki and Esoteric Acupressure. I love learning and will continue to learn new modalities to assist my clients. We do not need to learn to live with pain. I will use multiple forms of treatment after our initial consultation and we will work together so that you may begin your journey to wellness and healing. I am excited to help you transform your life with more balance in spirit, body and mind. |
